Meet Caylin Smith. Now working for the British Library and Legal Deposit Libraries, Caylin’s pathway into her current job shows just how transferrable digital skillsets can be. Today, the 10th October is Ada Lovelace day — a day designed to highlight female role models in STEM fields. I want to talk a bit about Ada, her history and why I believe we all need to both be like Ada and not be like Ada.

One of the main aims of She Does Digital is to develop and grow a community of like-minded digital professionals where we can all learn and share ideas, so putting on a networking event was the perfect opportunity to do just that.

At a She Does Digital networking event earlier this week, on my table, we began to talk about learning to code and how many amazing resources are out there. Since everybody isn’t lucky enough to necessarily have fantastic courses located near them, we began to discuss how else you could learn, using free resources online.
